MacGregor 4 Ring -

This bit was a product of my three year study to design a short shank curb bit that provided clear communication through the rein aids.

This is a great transition bit from snaffle to curb. It has a 4 inch overall length uses a 3 to 1 torque ratio when using the bottom ring and a 2 to 1 torque ratio when using the second ring from the bottom. The rein can also be used behind the mouthpiece for a 1 to 1 torque ratio which would be as similar to a snaffle as a curb bit can feel. This adaptability works great when working a young horse through the transition from using a snaffle to using a curb bit. It is also a great trail riding bit because it can be adjusted if your riding needs change.

In the design, I attached the mouthpiece to the shank through a tube that the shank passes through for minimum wasted movement and lip corner comfort. No pinching should occur in this connection. The shank is short enough that it should not catch on anything while out on the trail nor should the horse be able to lip the shank into his mouth. This bit is very light and won’t burden the horse on long trail rides. Comfort and clean communication were my goals with this bit and I believe riders will enjoy the versatility of this design.

This bit is constructed using high quality stainless steel and is polished to a smooth mirror finish for years of service.
